Shaq Lawson – Defensive End – Clemson

I’ll preface this pick by saying something I’ve said plenty of times before: it doesn’t matter where he went to school or how players at the same position from the same school fared for this team in the past. It doesn’t matter! You judge the player, not their jersey, and Shaq Lawson is a darn fine player. Defensive end is another very strong probability. Lawson is surely to be there when the Bucs pick and he may be the guy the Bucs are keying on.

Lawson is an immediate impact guy that helps Gerald McCoy and Jacquies Smith. The offense can only double team so many players, allowing for one on one opportunities for the line to get pressure on the quarterback. Unfortunately for Lawson, the pressure and scrutiny from fans based on him going to Clemson, however unfair it may be, may deter the Bucs from going in that direction. If they feel strongly enough about him as a prospect, I would hope it wouldn’t. At the same time, if Licht does pick Lawson, I would hope Bucs fans would trust his drafting abilities enough to not question it.
