Ronnie Stanley – Tackle – Notre Dame

Another pick I would disagree with, but understand the benefits. Stanley is a franchise left tackle that would protect Jameis Winston‘s blind side for the next decade. Second-year man Donovan Smith could easily slide to right tackle and you have an offensive line that is young, violent, talented, and growing together. That could do wonders for this team’s future as well as Winston’s health.

I like Smith at left tackle and feel Stanley isn’t the right player to take at nine, but he may likely be the best player available at the time. It’s hard to pass on talent like Stanley’s so I would understand the decision Licht would make here. Yes, he’d be yet another offensive player for a team that has drafted one defensive player since the sixth round of the 2013 draft, but he may be worth it over the long haul. If Licht & Co. feel they’re set at corner and aren’t sold on any of the first round pass rushers, offensive line may be the route they go at number nine.
