The Cardinals have a need for a versatile offensive lineman and Spriggs happens to fall to them here at the end of the first round. Having played tackle at Indiana, Spriggs can easily transition to guard if needed. Having a guy with that kind of ability, to plug and play wherever he’s needed, is a huge asset for a team that just made it to the NFC Championship a few months ago.
Carson Palmer’s window is closing, so the Cardinals need to do all they can to protect him and try to make another run at a championship. Although defensive line help would’ve been nice here, the value of what Spriggs can bring to this team is far greater than reaching for a defensive lineman when the top-tier guys are gone and there is a player available that can fill in across the offensive line.
