Buccaneers 2016 Draft: Full Bucs Mock
By James Yarcho
Another developmental guy, but big upside. Although he played inside linebacker at Florida State, Smith translates better to outside linebacker in the NFL, which fits the Bucs well. The ability to sit behind the likes of Lavonte David, Kwon Alexander, and Daryl Smith will allow him to grow and develop. Smith would be a key player on special teams and has the speed to do so.
One of his strengths is the ability to take great angles to the ball carrier, preventing him from missing very often. However, he has a lot of work to do on aggressiveness and tackling. Smith had 24 missed tackles in two years, but that is certainly something that can be taught, coached, and corrected. Has some developing to do in the passing game as he, at times, seems very indecisive and didn’t have any passes defensed in 2015.
