The Bucs’ Secondary will be Far Better than 2015

Remember how we mentioned on the previous page about the pass rush being better than we thought?  Well, the same can not be said about the pass defense.  The Bucs’ were tied for 21st in the league with a whopping 11 interceptions.  The situation is clearly bad when a linebacker leads the team in interceptions, as Lavonte David did last season with three.  The team allowed a completion percentage of 70% against them.  Something had to change.

It did.

Brent Grimes is here.  Vernon Hargreaves III is now here.  Say what you want about them being small, as I have said repeatedly, but the numbers don’t lie.  Brent Grimes makes plays on the football.  Forget the fact that he is 32 years old, the fact that he has picked off 13 passes over the last two years tells the story.  It’s the same story with Hargreaves, just younger.  Our good buddy James Yarcho eloquently showed us the type of ball-hawk that VHIII is, and the type of instincts that he has.

With tall receivers in the division, it won’t be perfect, but these guys will make plays, and the Bucs will reap the benefits.
