Vernon Hargreaves III

The Bucs set out to improve one of the weakest elements of their game, the pass defense.  They did it with their first pick in the draft.  After moving down two spots to number 11, they selected a guy that many had them targeting, Vernon Hargreaves III.  He comes to Tampa to help a pass defense that allowed a 70% completion percentage against them in 2015.  They will not jump to a top defense if they are unable to stop the pass.

Many felt that Jason Licht would regard the pass rush more important, and seek to improve that first.  But, Joey Bosa was off the board, as was DeForest Buckner and Leonard Floyd.  They had someone targeted in the second round, which we will talk about in just a few minutes.  Here they addressed the needs on the outside.
