Players Buccaneers’ Fans Should Watch for the 2017 NFL Draft
By Brian DeFeo
This is mo surprise to Bucs’ fans but pass rush is still a major need for this team. New additions Noah Spence and Robert Ayers are definitely improvements from last year’s defensive ends but there is always room for improvement, especially rushing the passer in a division with Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, and Drew Brees. However, if the Bucs are in position to draft Myles Garrett next season they will have no issues drafting him.
Garrett attended high school in Arlington, Texas and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track. He was another five-star recruit coming out of high school and was the number two ranked player overall. He was even better his freshman year at Texas A&M. As a true freshman in 2014, Garrett broke Texas A&M’s freshman sack record in his sixth game. I n only nine games, he broke Jadeveon Clowney‘s SEC freshman sack record of eight. Garrett would finish the season with 11.5 sacks, 53 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hurries, and a blocked kick, as a FRESHMAN.
Sophomore year brought Garrett more of the same;12 sacks, 57 total tackles, five forced fumbles, and one blocked punt. The dude is a beast and will be a top pick if he stays out of trouble. Again, the Bucs should not be in position to draft him but if for some reason they are I’d love to see him in Tampa Bay.
