The first win in a quarterback’s career is a big one and when it comes against an all-time great at your position, it has to feel that much better.  Many fans will remember the video clip of Winston being star-struck mid game when watching Drew Brees try and bring his Saints back against their division rivals.

At the end, the Bucs got the win and gave themselves a 1-1 record on the year.  Winston played well and was able to lean on the running game as Doug Martin and Charles Sims combined for 29 carries and 116 yards.

The rookie improved his standing on the week as he came in 14th among active NFL quarterbacks and connected in the end zone for the first time with veteran wide receiver Vincent Jackson.

Winning his first divisional matchup gave Bucs’ fans hope for the future defeating a team they’d see again later in the year.
