Five Bold Predictions for the Buccaneers’ 2016 Season
Jameis Winston will Throw Less Than Ten Interceptions
For a second year quarterback that is a bold prediction, but one that is attainable for the young Mr. Winston.
First of all, look at his ratio from 2015. Last year, Winston threw 22 touchdowns versus 15 interceptions. We can all agree that 15 is a number that is too high. But, it is also not the worst rookie season either.
Jameis had trouble taking care of the football, but, after the first Carolina game, things began to fall into place for him, and the number skyrocketed. Through the first Carolina game, Winston threw six touchdowns and seven interceptions. The rest of the way, he threw 16 touchdowns versus only eight interceptions. Protecting the football seemed to click for “Jaboo” and it translated to his play on the field.
Now, he will have the chance to do it with an increased number of weapons. In addition to Charles Sims and Doug Martin on the ground, and Mike Evans through the air, Vincent Jackson will be back. He will draw attention to his side of the field, opening up more passing windows for Winston all over the field, and allowing his interception number to plummet.
And that will make everyone very happy.
