This game was pretty much over as soon as it started. Notoriously captured by rookie Jameis Winston’s first career pass being taken back for a pick-six and it was all downhill from there.
Fellow rookie Marcus Mariota threw for a modestly successful 209 yards but it was the four touchdown passes which really sealed his status as the winner of this first matchup between the 2015 first and second overall picks.
For the Bucs defense, giving up just over 300 yards doesn’t usually spell disaster, but a systematic let-down across all three phases of Tampa’s gameplan made the term “Tennessee Ready” about as painful as any fans of the team had ever heard.
Nobody was ready for this game, and the Buccaneers fell 42-10 for their first loss of the year. With a 23rd place finish in Week 1 it’s highly doubtful anyone who didn’t draft the Tampa defense was clamoring to grab them from the free-agent pool.
