Top Four Plays of the 2015 Buccaneers Season
By Brian DeFeo
In honor of the Fourth of July, I thought it would be fun to look back at this season and pick the best four plays from the Buccaneers’ 2015 NFL Season.
Doug Martin had a career day versus the Eagles. He totaled 235 rushing yards in a game where he failed to find the end zone. He was two yards shy of the record for most yards in a game without a touchdown. Barry Sanders currently holds that record with 237 yards against the Buccaneers in 1994. Martin wasn’t done after this run either, he had another run go for 58 yards where he was tackled down at the eight yard line. The Bucs had their best offensive game of the season in week nine with Jamies Winston passing for five touchdowns and the Bucs crushed the Eagles 45-17. None of that would’ve been possible with out the excellent performance by number 22.
Week 13 for the Buccaneers was a big week for the team. They beat division rival Atlanta for the second time in the season. Mike Evans who had an up and down season really came through in the clutch catching a tough pass near the sideline dragging his toes in the end zone to secure the Buccaneers 23-19 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Another game against the Falcons another great play in the 2015 season. This game was breakout game for Bucs rookie middle linebacker Kwon Alexander. He had 11 tackles 1 interception, really two but one was called back for offsides, and this incredible forced fumble and recovery. Not only did he have to catch up to Jones but he had the pure football intellect to grab and rip the ball out of one of the best players in the NFLs hands. Not only was this a huge game for Kwon, but it was a huge emotional game for his entire family. He lost his brother earlier that week. He was an emotional wreck after the game but with his tenacity and fortitude he led the Buccaneers to an overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons.
Third plays the charm against the Atlanta Falcons. After seeing this play do you still think the Bucs picked the wrong guy to be the face of their franchise. After this play I jumped out of my seat at the sports bar I was at after this game I immediately bought a Winston jersey. This guy is the real deal and the toughness and smarts with a little bit of luck and poor tackling Winston made a nothing play into a game saving and eventually game winning drive. If this run wasn’t with under three minutes on the clock down by 3 it probably wouldn’t have made this list. Jameis Winston is a winner and makes plays that win games.
Next: How Will Doug Martin Trend After New Deal?
Hopefully next season we will see many more of these plays and hopefully some more on defense. Do you agree with my list, do you think I left out a better play that stood out more, let me know in the comments section below.
