It seems every year there’s at least two running backs who take the league by storm and surprise even the smartest experts. For the Buccaneers they have two guys who could take over a game week in and week out, but who else makes the roster?

It’s a pretty safe bet that most NFL teams will carry at least three running backs into the regular season with some carrying four, and the Buccaneers will be no different.  Even the best players need someone who can come in for a play or two and provide a spark while giving the starter some rest to ensure prolonged success.

Currently, Tampa has six running backs listed, and four of them will be fighting for spots on the active roster after Doug Martin and Charles Sims step into their usual roles as the best two-back combo in the league.  There are rookies and veterans vying for the remaining positions with the team.

So who stays and who goes?  We examine the candidates here.
