Vernon Hargreaves Has Ball Skills

It was no secret that Jason Licht was targeting Vernon Hargreaves during the draft.  The Bucs needed to improve their defensive secondary, and Hargreaves was brought in to do just that.  With his selection in the first round comes a great deal of expectation.  Can he get the job done at this level?

Now, anyone who has read my work knows that I have had my concerns about Hargreaves, mainly due to his size.  With the taller receivers in the NFL, it has been hard for shorter corners to stand up to their opponents.

With the evidence so far, however, VHIII will be just fine.  Last week, he posted two interceptions against the Jaguars, and so far in the preseason has not had a completion credited against him.  Obviously he is not going one on one against the stars of the league so far, it’s only the preseason.  But, ball skills are ball skills, and Hargreaves has them.

He is going to be exciting to watch.
