The Offensive Line Has Work to Do

Last season, the line was a source of strength for the Bucs.  With veteran Logan Mankins, along with strong rookie seasons from Ali Marpet and Donovan Smith, the offensive line was dominant, especially in the running attack.  This year was billed as a seamless exchange, with J.R. Sweezy stepping in to replace Mankins and the line picking up where they left off.

It hasn’t been that way so far.

We have yet to see the debut of Sweezy, recently learning that he is likely to begin the season on the PUP list.  The rest of the group has had their moments but they haven’t been consistent.  This has especially been true in the running game, as the Bucs have only managed a 2.9 yards per carry average so far.  Even in the preseason, this is not a good trend.  Those numbers need to go up.

The offensive line had better get it together and fast.
