Bryan Anger

Field position can change the tenor of a game.  Pinning the opponent deep in their own end can seize the momentum back from a team trying to put yours away.  Last year, the Bucs weren’t very good at doing that.  Frankly, they were very bad at doing that.  Jacob Schum posted a net average of 38 yards per punt, ranking him 28th in the league.  He also ranked 31st in the league with only 15 punts inside the twenty yard line.

This just in, that’s bad.

Thankfully, Bryan Anger won the job, and he did so easily.  He averaged over 48 yards per punt in the preseason.  Last year, he dropped 26 punts inside the twenty.  His average per punt (gross) was nearly five yards more than Schum, 46.3 to 41.9.  His net was more than a yard greater at 39.5.  Anger can make a huge difference in every game, and the Bucs will need him to.
