Wide Receivers

Mike Evans continued his dominant start to the 2016 season against the Rams. The third year wideout was unstoppable and consistently moved the sticks all day long, finishing with 10 catches, 132 yards and a touchdown. Drops continue to be a thing of the past for Evans, which has to make fans and coaches smile.

On most days Mike Evans would have stolen the show for the wide receivers, but Adam Humphries was fantastic versus the Rams. Humphries finished with 9 catches for 100 yards and was his usual reliable self for his quarterback. The highlight came on a monster 31 yard catch-and-run in the 4th quarter.

Vincent Jackson was once again quiet this week and at this point the Bucs have to be pretty concerned about their veteran #2 receiver. He finished with just 3 catches for 37 yards, and despite his place on the depth chart, he now seems to be Jameis Winston’s 4th or 5th most reliable target.

With Evans and Humphries soaking up the majority of Winston’s 36 completions there were few balls for the rest of the receivers to catch. It was a good day for the unit, but there will be even better days in the future for them.
