Build Around the Quarterback

The Bucs have exceeded most expectations for the 2016 season. It’s week 16 and they are still playing relevant football. That’s something to be excited about.

However, this team is still a few pieces away from true contention. There are holes on the offensive line and secondary that have proved costly. At the end of the day, building around Jameis Winston is crucial.

The Bucs have to find another legitimate weapon to compliment Mike Evans in the pass game. What Winston has done with a roster of undrafted free agents is near miraculous. At the same time, we’ve seen how the lack of threats have cost the Bucs in the red zone. The lack of speed at playmaking positions has been frustrating to say the least.

This is a need that could be addresses in free agency, but may also be suited for a high draft pick as the Bucs continue to build a foundation with youth for not only winning now, but a consistent team for the future.
