In Dirk We Trust

Let’s talk about the first year of Dirk Koetter for a minute.

Has it been perfect? Of course it hasn’t. Which rookie coach is? Dirk has made his fair share of mistakes. We have talked about his in-game decisions at length. Time management has not been his strong suit, which is a common problem among young coaches. Koetter has work to do on his game.

But one thing he has done well is personnel decisions. He has kept this roster fresh, fresh enough to run off a five-game winning streak when we all thought they were left for dead. On both sides of the football, the right guys have been active at the right time. We can point at Peyton Barber’s 84 yard performance against San Francisco and the solid performances by Rodgers as solid examples.

If Dirk believes this is the right move to make, who are we to judge? OK, we are football fans, we will always judge. But seriously, he has made good personnel moves all year. If Dirk thinks Rodgers is the guy, my trust remains in his hands.

You’ve heard what I think and what James thinks. Who do you agree with? Is sitting Martin a good idea or a bad one? Sound off in the comments below and let us know on Twitter or Facebook.
