Michael Roberts – Tight End, Toledo

We basically know what we’re getting from tight ends O.J. Howard and David Njoku, so the Buccaneers probably aren’t going to learn much from what they watch on Day 2.

A tight end we should all want to see more of though is Toledo’s Michael Roberts.

Roberts is more of a receiving tight end than anything, but he has a decent foundation for blocking which could land him in the discussion of having starter potential by year three if he really dedicates himself to getting better as an in-line player.

Meanwhile, bringing him into two tight end formations as a blocker doesn’t leave your team totally vulnerable and he can leak out as a good receiving option as well.

While at college, Roberts lined up in the backfield as a blocker and in the slot most of the time as a true receiver with success.

Bucs fans seem to have fallen in love with Cameron Brate during the 2016 season, and I too am a big fan of the formerly undrafted free-agent.

That being said though, Dirk Koetter likes to run a lot of two tight-end sets, so adding a weapon to the bunch couldn’t be a bad thing. They’ve already spoken to Roberts multiple times so we know they have some interest in him;

You’ll be hard pressed to find a better fit for what the Buccaneers are trying to build in the fifth round or later, and a solid combine could bolster his stock a bit further as well.
