Jaleel Johnson – Defensive Tackle, Iowa

If the Bucs look in the middle area of the draft for interior line depth, then Jaleel Johnson from Iowa should be a name on their short list of candidates to look for.

Johnson has some versatility in his game which will allow him to play next to Gerald McCoy if needed or even spell the Bucs’ best lineman on occasion.

Either way he’s a good young prospect with potential written all over him coming into the combine.

It’ll be interesting to see how he measures up against the rest of the field, but he seems to be pretty settled into being considered a third-round pick for whatever NFL franchise gives him his first crack at pro football.

Eventually, the team that takes him will need to find out if he’s destined to play over center or if he can be a good three-technique as a pro.

Once they do, he should get more focused into those skill sets, but in the meantime he presents enough of both possibilities that he can effectively bring some depth to any defensive line in the league.
