UPDATE: Reports Confirm DeSean Jackson to Buccaneers
It’s the moment Buccaneers fans have been waiting for, as multiple sources are reporting DeSean Jackson will be joining the squad in 2017.
Ok, not all Buccaneers fans wanted this move, but even those who rallied against it have to admit the excitement Jackson brings to the field.
Both Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter are reporting the former Redskins and Eagles wide receiver is heading to Tampa.
Like Mr. Rapoport said, it isn’t all that surprising, but it’s still huge.
Jackson has been linked to the Bucs since the moment it was evident he wouldn’t be returning to the Nation’s Capital to play for the Redskins.
There are some concerns about his production as he nears 31-years of age this coming December, but to this point the nine-year vet has been able to maintain his signature explosiveness.
In 2016 alone, Jackson had five plays of 50 or more yards and 19 which went for at least 20.
Compare this to the zero plays from scrimmage which went for 50-yards or more in Tampa, and we’re talking about an instant boost to the offense.
Details have not yet become available, but will be coming soon. Of course, the signing won’t become official until the new league year begins at 4:00 p.m. EST so there’s always that slight chance things fall apart but all signs point to this being a done deal and DeSean Jackson is a Buccaneer.
