For the record, I’m not a fan of drafting players in the first-round teams aren’t expecting to start right away.

Deshaun Watson to Arizona is something that needs to happen if Bruce Arians wants to keep Arizona relevant post Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald.

Watson has the raw talent needed to give the franchise confidence they’ll have a capable man under center moving forward.

Pairing his own abilities with running back David Johnson and future additions to the offense will help Arizona keep up offensively.

Later on, expect Arizona to address defense a bit more including finding a suitable replacement for departed safeties Tony Jefferson and D.J. Swearinger.

This move is certainly for the future which won’t bring a whole lot of immediate excitement to Cardinals fans.

A year or two from now though, they’ll be happy their franchise had the foresight in this draft to pull the trigger on Watson here.
