The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially signed the final member of their 2017 NFL Draft class by inking wide receiver Chris Godwin Thursday.

That’s it. All six picks are now officially signed to their rookie deals as the Buccaneers signed former Penn State wide receiver Chris Godwin to a contract. Godwin was the first of two third round picks for the Bucs, being drafted at 84th overall.

Godwin was one of the best wide receiver prospects in recent memory to come out of Penn State, finishing his career as a Nittany Lion with 153 receptions for 2,404 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Godwin is already turning heads at Buccaneers OTAs and was very impressive at rookie mini-camp;

When quarterback Jameis Winston was asked about him, all he could say was, “He’s amazing!”

Godwin is one of many new offensive weapons added to the team this off-season and is expected to develop into that long term number two receiver. Although Adam Humphries is slated as the number three receiver right now, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that a player like Godwin overtakes him by mid-season.

Godwin has been praised by the likes of Matt Harmon and his “reception perception” analysis where he lists Godwin as the most underrated receiver prospect in this class and displayed Godwin’s unreal reception percentages as well as crowning him the best receiver at contested catches in the 2017 draft. Given the defenses the Bucs will go against, that success rate will certainly come in handy.

Details of the contract have not yet be released but we will have that for you as soon as the information becomes available. Expect it to be in $3.3-million to $3.5-million range as that seems to be the going rate for the players drafted around him.
