No. 1: The Bright Lights of Reality TV

A nice turnaround in 2016 combined with some early offseason buzz made the Bucs a prime candidate to be featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks series. Sure enough, it was announced in April that Tampa Bay will be the focus of this year’s series. Hard Knocks has been popular with football fans in the past, though some teams have supposedly fallen victim to the “distractions” that come with it. Yes, camera crews will be following the Bucs throughout training camp. The team will get some extra attention, which is why their response to such attention will be a big talking point this season.

The team being featured in the series comes in at No. 1 on this list for a variety of reasons, but mostly because of the national buzz that will come from it. A lot more eyes will be on the Bucs throughout camp, and not just from those in the fan base. A few months ago, I wrote that I believe this group of guys can handle the added spotlight. The cameras shouldn’t be an issue, which makes the story of being on Hard Knocks one that should be highly enjoyable. Keeping up with how the players and coaches interact with the cameras should be a treat, especially for die-hard fans that want the all-access looks that the show provides.

Another unique thing about the HBO attention is that it will help fans keep up with storylines five through two on this list. Viewers will get to see inside looks at day-to-day life during training camp. Everyone will get to see what a great leader Jameis Winston is. Kwon Alexander will get the spotlight he deserves. And overall, fans will get a look at other guys on the roster that they wouldn’t get otherwise. Hard Knocks, which starts on Aug. 8, will be a great time for fans. It’s a big deal for the Bucs to get featured, which makes it the No. 1 storyline to follow when camp gets started.
