The Winner

The Bucs will need strong play from their safeties this season to fuel their playoff run. There were a few games where poor safety play led to a loss for the Bucs. Most notably the loss to Oakland in overtime. A whiff on a tackle by safety Bradley McDougald led to the game-winning touchdown by Seth Roberts. This one particularly stung because the Bucs had several opportunities to win and were just one stop away from getting the ball back. This season the Bucs can not let winnable games pass them by and need strong play from their secondary especially the safeties.

I myself have stated that Evans could benefit from sitting on the bench at first, but I have completely changed my mind. I think Evans will come out of training camp victorious and let me tell you why. The biggest weakness of Evans could also be considered a strength. He’s a mystery as in we do not know what to expect from him and I think he can be special. After all, it wasn’t too long ago that Kwon Alexander burst on to the scene and beat out veteran linebacker Daryl Smith for the starting MLB position. I have a feeling history will repeat itself.

This prediction is in no way a knock against Wilcox, I believe he will be a solid player for the Bucs. However, you know what you are going to get with Wilcox and it is unlikely that he becomes more than what you expect out of him. While these expectations may seem absurd for a second round safety. I believe the rook is ready to shock all of us.
