If you haven’t heard already, the Buccaneers will face Jay Cutler Week 1 of the NFL Season as he signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
I suppose it’s possible Matt Moore beats Cutler for the opening day gig against the Bucs, but doubtful. That being said, all signs point to Cutler being the man under center when the Dolphins host the Bucs on kickoff weekend.
Shortly after the news broke, Greg Auman tweeted out the stats that matter from their 2016 encounter with Cutler.
Bucs open the season at Miami, now likely against Jay Cutler. He threw 2 INTs, lost fumble last year as Tampa Bay beat his Bears, 36-10.

This would be great news of course, if this were the only time Cutler had seen the Bucs. It’s not though.
In fact, he’s seen them four other times in his careers:
2008: Denver Broncos (W) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 23-34, 227-yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
2011: Chicago Bears (W) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 17-32, 226-yards, 1 TD, 2 INT
2014: Chicago Bears (W) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 17-27, 130-yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
2015: Chicago Bears (W) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 20-27, 156-yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
2016: Chicago Bears @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (W) – 16-30, 182-yards, 1 TD, 2 INT
Overall: 4-1, 62% completion percentage, 184-yards per game, 1 touchdown per game, 4 interceptions
I’m not saying the Bucs will lose this game of course, but Cutler led teams do seem to have a knack for coming out on top.
What do these numbers mean to you, and what are your thoughts on the Buccaneers starting 1-0 now that Cutler has joined Miami?
