SALARY CAP STATUS
As you can see most of these deals will not come until after this current season, and the 2018 cap number although not official has been projected to be somewhere around $175-179 million up from $167 million this season.
With the Bucs currently having between $21-22 million in cap space with an $8-12 million jump next season and some expiring contract they will likely be around $40-50 million in cap space and possibly more ($60 plus) with some cuts. This is just speculation of course.
What this article does prove is that the Bucs will sign all of these players to new contracts of potentially $67,600,000 or more or maybe less as an annual average, and with cap master Greenberg and GM Licht hammer out the numbers there will definitely be money left over to still bring in some top free agents.
The reason it is doable is that the term “annual average” does not necessary mean that is what the yearly total will be but instead means that it is the average per year of the total money.
We all know that Licht and Greenberg are great at working out contracts and keeping cap numbers low while still paying players what they deserve, so everyone “TRUST IN LICHT” and these contracts will get done.
So to all my fellow #STICKCARRIERS what do you think of my contract predictions do they sound about right or are they too high or maybe even too low?
