The Kickers

When the Buccaneers choose to release struggling kicker Roberto Aguayo after the Bengals preseason game Coach Koetter made the statement in his presser that Nick Folk was our kicker.

“Well we are going to bring in another kicker because we want to have another leg in camp. Anything can happen – a guy could pull a hamstring, twist an ankle. As long as we have room, we would like to have another guy that can kick the football. As of right now, Nick is going to be our kicker.”

Then came preseason game two against the Jags where after the Buccaneers scored a rare red zone touchdowns … the extra points was blocked by the Jaguars. Now that is not necessary the fault of the kicker but still it’s one less point on the board, and Coach Koetter said Folk was at fault in his post-game presser:

"“Yeah – it was too low.”"

Then Folk made two chip shot field goals (29 and 35 yards) but then he missed wide right from 47 yards in the fourth quarter meaning that he was 0-1 on extra points and 2-3 on field goals and losing points in not acceptable.

During the last training camp practice both Nick Folk and free agent signee Zack Hocker looked very well on the skinny posts. It will be interesting to see how the battle goes during the Browns game since Hocker did not attempt a single kick in the Jaguars game.
