Buccaneers fans are very excited to see their favorite players on the field in just one week’s time, but Peter Schrager of NFL Network is pointing to one specific name to have a breakout 2017.

Fans and small media have been raving about Kwon Alexander since he snatched the starting middle linebacker job in his first year as a member of the Buccaneers.

He was leading the team in tackles in 2015 when he missed the last four games due to a suspension, and led the entire league in solo tackles the following year.

As Schrager points out in his rankings, Alexander was not named to the NFL’s Top-100 list this year, nor has he been named to a Pro-Bowl or All-Pro list as of yet.

Still, none of this kept the popular football analyst from making Alexander his top breakout player among non-skill position players.

Of the third-year linebacker, Schrager said,

"“He is a tackle machine, and when you combine him with Lavonte David and the rookie Kendall Beckwith out of LSU, the Buccaneers’ linebacking corps could be the best in the entire NFL this year.”"

Given the fact Tampa plays in a division with linebackers named Vic Beasley, Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis and Deion Jones; simply saying the Bucs might have the best group in the division would be a compliment.

Predicting one of the best in the entire league is a whole other level, but one people who have watched the team feel they can elevate to.

The Buccaneers are used to David competing for a Pro-Bowl spot, and of course, Gerald McCoy playing in front of them will help.

With the return of William Gholston and Robert Ayers on the edges, and the addition of Chris Baker to help McCoy in the middle, these linebackers should have even more room to attack in 2017.

Bucs fans have been anxiously waiting to see what Alexander and his defensive teammates can do with this season.

If Schrager is right, it’s going to be a fun season.

How do you think Alexander will do in 2017? What kind of numbers are you looking for?
