Which Buccaneers practice squad member will be the first to see the field?

The cuts made by the Buccaneers were painful. For the first time, the NFL allowed teams to carry their entire camp roster to the final game, and then make cuts prior to the regular season.

While this new system certainly allowed teams like the Buccaneers to evaluate their fringe players better, it also allowed fans to fall more in love with them.

This is helped in 2017 by the fact the Bucs appeared on HBO’s Hard Knocks. So when players like Jeremy McNichols struggled on the field and on the small screen, it burned fans a bit more than usual.

When Donteea Dye was cut in favor for Bobo Wilson who blatantly ignored instruction and departed Tampa for Miami before cut day, it burned fans in a different way.

Whether you or I agree with who they are, the Bucs 11-Man practice squad is set.

In case you don’t know, here are the guys on the squad, in alphabetical order:

Bailey, Sterling – DE

Bullough, Riley – LB

Hansbrough, Russell – RB

Johnson, Austin – FB

Johnson, Isaiah – S

Liedtke, Michael – OL

Martino, Freddie – WR

Moxey, Jonathan – CB

Murray, Justin – T

Nzeocha, Eric – LB

Wilson, Bobo – WR

An unfortunate side of NFL business is injury and suspension. These lead to practice squad players seeing regular season action during the year, sometimes even significant amounts of time.

Depending on the reason for a practice squad player being called up, the team could suddenly find themselves needing such a player to step-up in a big way.

So while we never ever wish ill on anyone, the staff here at The Pewter Plank took our best shot at predicting which of these practice squad Buccaneers would see the field first in regular season action.
