AFC WEST

This division has all four teams at home. In order, the Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders and Chargers host the Cowboys, Eagles, Jets and Dolphins.

SIT – Running Back, Melvin Gordon – Los Angeles Chargers

Against the Miami Dolphins, the Chargers figure to pass the ball more successfully than they run it. While Gordon certainly has the chances to get involved here as well, this defense is built to stop running backs better than receivers.

This is more of a DFS call than a fantasy football league one. If he’s on your team and you don’t have two Tier 1 running backs available to go, start him anyway.

He’s just not worth the investment in daily games this week.

START – Quarterback, Derek Carr – Oakland Raiders

I’m not trying to pile on the Jets here, but Tyrod Taylor racked up 224-yards and two touchdown passes against this New York team last week.

Derek Carr is going to have a field day against this defense, and the only thing that’s going to stop him is the lead.

He, Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree should all have strong weeks in this one, and Marshawn Lynch will gladly eat up all the garbage time stats he can get.

Enjoy.

SLEEPER – Oakland Raiders Defense

The Raiders were not widely considered one of the best fantasy football defenses heading into the season, but this is one week you may want to stream them if you can.

Buffalo ended up as a Top-10 defense last week, and honestly, I see Oakland as a better all-around unit.
