Losers

Pass Rush

While the Buccaneers defensive line held the Bears to twenty rushing yards they only got to Mike Glennon once. While it was a strip sack Glennon didn’t even go down. The Buccaneers re-signed William Gholston this off-season but he’s more of a run-stuffer. Jacquies Smith was not listed on the injury report this week was inactive this week. They may just want to get him some more practice time before throwing him into the fire so the scratch was not to surprising. They need more production from their pass rush if they want to beat better teams. Glennon had 301 yards today because in the second half they didn’t put any pressure on him. The Bears lost a few linemen to injury today but the Bucs were still unable to get a pass rush on Mike Glennon. The pass rush needs to come together when they have to face the likes of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers later this season.

Running Back Charles Sims III

The Buccaneers got decent production from their running game today but Charles Sims did not produce. On four touches Sims had nine yards and a fumble. Sims is the third down back on the offense but he has looked unproductive when he’s been given a chance. There was one play where he could’ve scored a touchdown and made everyone forget about his fumble but Jameis overthrew him slightly after he was wide open down the sideline. The Bucs will be without Doug Martin for two more games they are going to have to use him in some form. He is a free agent this off-season and it might be his last in Tampa Bay.

Hurricane Irma

While the Buccaneers were forced into a bye week one they would not be put down by the storm. Jameis Winston has been very vocal trying to do his best J.J. Watt and gain donations. While not as devastating as Hurricane Harvey, Irma did enough damage. It brought the team together and made them play for a reason. A lot of fans needed the distraction of football to forget about last weekend and the Buccaneers put on a much needed show.

While the last one was a bit of a stretch the Buccaneers didn’t really have issues. When you are beating a team by almost 30 for the entire game there is very little to complain about. The Buccaneers face a much tougher test next week by traveling to Minnesota. This win should bring confidence with the great success on all sides of the ball.
