Jameis Winston was inaccurate for much of the day, and inconsistent to put it nicely for the Buccaneers in Week 5.

He finished with 334-yards passing and a touchdown, but completed just 57% of his passes.

Through three quarters, in fact, Winston had completed just 13 passes all game long and had 109-yards through the air.

13-of-21 in the third quarter for 225 yards and a touchdown was nice, but would’ve been nicer had he played that way throughout the game.

True, it’s not all on Winston, but he’s the only player who touches the ball on every play. This means he gets more than his fair share of blame when the offense struggles.

His accuracy issues are well documented. It’s the good passes which make this young man so frustrating at times though.

For example, in the third quarter, Winston had his fastest receiver open down the field for what would have been a sure touchdown. If he didn’t over-throw him by a finger, then it would have been. Alas, it was not.

I write these words, not as an indictment. Winston himself is just as frustrated, if not more, than all of us are. He wants to win more than we want him to win.

So believe me, I’m not typing anything he isn’t already saying to himself.

The Buccaneers offense is extremely talented and can do a lot of great things. If there ever going to do it consistently though, Winston has to be great more often.

One great quarter wasn’t enough to erase three bad ones, or his lower than usual marks.
