Buccaneers Game Grades: 2017 Week 6 loss to Arizona Cardinals
The Buccaneer’s offensive line, as stated above, looked to be getting outplayed during the first half of this game.
Creating gaps and providing a clean pocket for Winston/ Fitzpatrick should be priority number one for this line.
Once again, Demar Dotson has found himself on Pro Football Focus’s top graded offensive tackles with an overall 81.9. Guard Evan Smith found his way to an 82.5 overall PFF grade.
Bad timed penalties from the offensive line caused a few plays for the Bucs to be called back. Donovan Smith had a holding penalty called on him after an 11 yard run from Martin that got brought back.
On one particular run play from Martin, center Ali Marpet came off his snap a little slow allowing the defensive tackle to prevent him from turning his hips. Because of this, Marpet wasn’t able to create enough leverage to move the tackle from his gap causing the line to shift to the right, closing a running lame for Martin.
In the third quarter with about 9:47 left, Martin pulled off a big run. This play was set up by some very good pulling at the line by Marpet and Dotson. This allowed Sweezy and tight end Luke Stocker to move down the field and make some very key blocks ahead of Martin.
