Walking The Plank returns with episode 33, discussing the Buccaneers’ defensive problems, Doug Martin, and previewing the Panthers.

David Harrison and I return for another episode of Walking The Plank – a few days late, but it’s here nonetheless. There was plenty to discuss coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Buffalo Bills and all the glaring defensive issues that go with it.

We discuss what we saw from the defense in the loss and David discusses some of his findings when watching the All-22 film on the game, including a full breakdown of the long pass from Tyrod Taylor to set up the game tying score.

I go off on a bit of a rant regarding Doug Martin. Very few were tougher on Martin this off-season than myself. I shared my criticisms and doubts, always ending with “I hope he proves me wrong.” So far this season I believe he has, so when I heard someone going to town on how “useless” and what “a joke” he is, it struck a nerve. David chimes in with some perfect examples as to why Martin is playing at a high level and his yards per carry (3.7) don’t tell the whole story.

We get into the Panthers preview, discussing where the Panthers stand at this point. For as Jeckyl and Hyde as the Buccaneers are, the Panthers are every bit as infuriating to Panthers’ fans with their inconsistent play. Despite having a top five defense, there are ways to exploit them with the number one passing offense in the NFL.

We give our predictive players of the game and score, throw some shade Roberto Aguayo‘s way, and have a goofy little fantasy football rant.
