WORSE: OFFENSIVE THIRD DOWN CONVERSIONS

MOVING THE CHAINS

During the week seven game against the Bills that the Buccaneers should have won they did quite well on third down converting on six of eleven tries or 55%. Helping them to take the lead late in the fourth quarter and if not for an errant fumble most likely would have won with a game winning field goal, but it was not to be but still a good showing on third down.

Now onto the week eight game against the Panthers where the Buccaneers offense struggles mightily so then of course their third down converting struggled greatly as well, and the Buccaneers were only able to convert two of twelve third down attempts or 17% of their tries.

Those two conversion came in the first half being unsuccessful on the next ten straight attempts which is why the Buccaneers were unable to get into the Panthers red zone until there was 2:54 left in the game.

The Buccaneers are currently nineteenth in the NFL on offensive third down conversions converting only 37.8% of their third down attempts causing many promising drives to stall, and likely being one of the main reasons that the offense has struggled in the first half leading them to be behind at half time in all but two games.

If they want to win game the Buccaneers offense has to improve in this category especially in the first half so they will not be playing catch up in the second half of the game.

Now onto some season long trend that I have noticed so far for the Buccaneers this season some that I may have already brought up in past articles that are still continuing and some new ones that I have noticed.
