Cornerback Marshon Lattimore

Another strong rookie from this New Orleans Saints draft class comes first-round pick Marshon Lattimore from Ohio State. The Saints were a horrendous pass defense the past two seasons but may have found an elite cornerback in Lattimore. Lattimore was thrown into the fire early this season being forced to cover the likes of Stefon Diggs and Brandin Cooks. After giving up some points the corner has found his groove.

In the fourth quarter of games this year, he’s played 58 coverage snaps, had seven targets, two catches allowed, one interception, one pass breakup, a 0.0 passer rating allowed. If these stats aren’t good enough Lattimore has more interception return yards than he has man coverage yards allowed. If that’s not enough again he’s the highest graded rookie for Pro Football Focus through eight weeks in their history. He won defensive rookie of the month in October and has the Saints defense moving in the right direction.

The Saints have some players that are surprising this year. After a season where they were 7-9 and were looking like a team about to start rebuilding. Now sitting at 5-2 they are in control of the NFC South and look like a team that can make a run for the Super Bowl with their mixture of youth and behind the arm of Drew Brees.  All I can say is good luck Buccaneers.
