Buccaneers: Grades for week 9 loss to Saints
Wide Receivers
When the quarterbacks aren’t playing well, then the receiving groups have little to no chance of making out with much on the stat sheets. Then again, maybe the stat sheets weren’t what the wide outs were trying to make.
After battling with Saint’s Lattimore all day, Desean Jackson seemed defeated and started getting angry with Lattimore. This lead to an argument on the Bucs sideline that saw Winston poke Lattimore in the back of his helmet.
Star receiver and Pro Bowler Mike Evans, came from behind with a blind side hit on Lattimore that somehow didn’t get his ejected for the rest of the game. This is an example of pure frustration on the Bucs side of the field.
Jackson missed on a possible touchdown in the third quarter from Fitzpatrick. Instead of tracking the ball, Jackson tried for the pass interference call on Lattimore instead of contesting for the ball.
Overall there just seemed to be no “juice” in the offense from start to finish, except the sideline scuffle.
Howard had a fumble due to poor ball control and set up Drew Brees to come back on the field and score another touchdown.
The lack of motivation from the likes of Evans and Jackson this past week have really set the team up for failure.
An uncommon name to score on Sunday would be Luke Stocker on an eight yard pass at the goal line.
Jackson lead the team in yards with 25 and tied five other receivers with catches at two a piece.
With Evans serving his suspension this weekend, rookie Chris Godwin will finally get his chance to show the Buccaneers he was worth the draft pick.
