Defensive Line

As I stated earlier, the was little to no “Juice” on the team going against the leaders of the NFC South.

Defensive End Robert Ayers was the lone player to get a sack on Brees. After going the past few weeks without a sack, the Buccaneers found themselves with one.

Defensive line play looked sluggish at best most of the game. With the exception of Gerald McCoy, Will Ghoulston, and Clinton McDonald, the heart to fight back was absent.

McCoy continues to be week in and week out the most consistent player on the team. With McCoy getting behind the line fast, it created enough havoc at certain moments, to allow his team mates to make tackles for loss and defended passes.

Most of the game the defensive line rushed with three to four rushers and it did close to nothing against Drew Brees and his passing attack.

Ayers accounted for a forced fumble, but was recovered by the Saints.

Missed tackles plagued the defensive ends when the opportunity to get a tackle was there. Eleven total tackles were accounted for from the defensive line.

The line as a whole gave up 150 yards on the ground and had no answer for Alvin Kamara.
