Cameron Brate

Brate has been targeted four or more times in every game this season except one.  While he has yet to record a 100-yard game he did have a stretch of four straight games that he caught a touchdown pass this season.  Brate will have to be effective in blocking and receiving as he will be required to help fill the void left by Evans.

Fitzpatrick is as good as anyone at checking down, and it could be the tight end position.  They also could use Brate more as a blocker to help with the impressive pass rush the Jets have this season.  They currently have 18 sacks on the year which is ten more than the Buccaneers, and they seem to be just hitting their midseason stride.

Brate has 1,379 career receiving yards. He needs one more to pass Calvin Magee (1,379 from 1985-88) for sixth-most and 256 more to pass Jackie Harris (1,634 from 1994-97) for the fifth-most receiving yards by a tight end in team history.  While the fifth spot is out of reach this game, Brate may very well crack it by the season end.  Still having the sixth-most receiving yards on a franchise at any position is an accomplishment to be proud of.
