Running Backs Bilal Powell and Matt Forte

While I usually would only pick one of them Matt Forte was limited in practice it may give Bilal Powell another chance at lead back this week. Matt Forte is at the tail end of his career but is still producing. Last week against the stout Bills rush defense he had 77 yards and two touchdowns on only fourteen carries. Forte is in his tenth season in the NFL but is averaging his most yards per carry since 2013 when he was a Pro-Bowler with the Bears.

Bilal Powell had a season-low for snaps played but made the most of it with 74 yards on nine carries. He had another long run called back by a penalty so he could have had more than 100 yards. Both are productive pass catchers giving them weapons on every play, unlike Charles Sims. The ground game for the Jets ranks 19th but are only ten yards per game away from being in the top ten. With them losing by wide margins in some games it kills the ground game but when they get the opportunity they have been productive. Either one or both can easily have a good game against Tampa’s week run defense.
