Six Best (Or Worst) Quotes

“I think that’s awesome. That’s the type of win that can kickstart a season I think. It was just a hard-fought, everybody made plays when they needed too, defense played great. It’s just a good feeling in the locker room, to have that back after such a long string of games when you come back in the locker room disappointed. That’s the kind of thing that can get things going, a win like that [where] we just king of stuck with it and grinded and grinded and got a win.” Ryan Fitzpatrick on the win.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Fitzy. I don’t think this is going to kickstart anything. It was an ugly win against a bad team. Extremely unlikely this is going to be the game we look back on after an eight game win streak and say “Yep, it started with that win against the Jets.”

  • “No. We just went out there and had fun. Everybody did their job and we took the ball away. We need to keep taking the ball away. We’re going to get on a roll and stay on a roll and that’s what we’re going to do.” – Kwon Alexander on if the defense did anything different this week

Sounds to me like you guys need to go out there and have fun a little more often. That was the best defensive performance of the year. I wish I had the same confidence that Kwon has, but I don’t see this team staying on a roll.

“Yes, exactly, exactly. It’s not magic, it’s not rocket science. You’ve just got to hold each other accountable. We say we’re brothers – we have to play like we’re brothers and have each other’s backs.” –Lavonte David on the struggles are as simple as identifying and fixing a problem

If that’s all they had to do, I have two questions; first, why wasn’t it done sooner? Second, can they keep doing it until this team isn’t so unbelievably frustrating?

“Well those two guys are good players. I talked about it Wednesday during the week, Gerald [McCoy], he can disrupt a game, he is as good as anybody in the league, in my opinion, at that position and when he’s rolling he can take over a game and he certainly made it tough on us. Lavonte [David], he was playing accordingly. They do a good job playing off each other and having been with those guys, we understand the character and type of people they are, regardless of their record, I knew they were going to come play hard and they were both, obviously, difference makers today.” – Josh McCown on Gerald McCoy and Lavonte David

We’ve been saying it for weeks, months, years even – Gerald and Lavonte are two of the best players in the NFL at their position. Why people want to hate on McCoy or want to ship the both of them out of town is beyond me. It’s truly frustrating to have so many fans find the littlest things to be nit-picky about these two guys just for the sake of bashing them.

“I don’t know, they just got after it. We knew what they were doing. They knew what we were doing. They got after it. We played hard. They played hard. We lost a unanimous decision in a 12-round fight.” Todd Bowles on the defensive scheme

So, they knew what Mike Smith was going to do? Ya don’t say! For the first time this season, the Buccaneers’ sheer talent was able to overcome their predictability. Maybe change things up once and while, Mikey – it may lead to more wins.
