Buccaneers: Players to watch against the Falcons in Week 12
By Sean Eck
Justin Evans
Evans play as a rookie has been inconsistent at best, but the Buccaneers keep having him on the field and last game it paid off. Evans had a fantastic diving interception of Jay Cutler in the red zone that stopped their offensive momentum and was a huge play for the Buccaneers. While he should have stayed down in the end zone instead of trying to run with the ball it still showed great instincts as he undercut a route to perfection.
100% of the plays on defense. That’s how much the Bucs have faith in him. Over the past two-game win streak Evans has been on the field for every single defensive play. This matches only LaVonte David and Brent Grimes as the only other players to play every down for the past two games on defense. It also shows that the Buccaneers are vested in him as their future.
This week Evans will have to worry about the dynamic duo of Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu. This pairing accounts for 42% of all Matt Ryan‘s completions this season. Evans will have to be wary of the deep ball as they have a combined fourteen passes caught over 20 yards. While this is impressive, they only account for five of the teams fifteen touchdowns through the air. Evans will have to continue to hold Julio in front of him as well as be prepared to stop the run.
