Running backs Ty Montgomery, Jamaal Williams, or Aaron Jones

The Packers have had multiple serious injuries to key players this season outside of Aaron Rodgers. The Packers have a small stable of running backs and that is due to injuries this season. While converted wide receiver Ty Montgomery has been the number one guy this year he suffered a broken rib early in the season and hasn’t been the same since. Aaron Jones then burst on to the scene with two 125 yard games is recovering from an MCL injury and a marijuana arrest in October. Since then Jamaal Williams has been given the load of the carries.

The three running backs have very similar workloads when it comes to carries. Montgomery has 71 while Jones and Williams each have 70 carries. Jones has the best yards per carry, averaging 5.3. Much better than Williams (3.2) and Montgomery (3.8). However, Williams and Montgomery both have been more productive catching the ball. Williams has 13 catches for 152 yards. Montgomery has 23 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown. Jones only has eight catches for 16 yards. While it looks like Jamaal will get the rock this week due to injuries the Buccaneers can get gashed by any one of them. The Packers were not a run first team with Aaron Rodgers but they have become much more balanced under Hundley. It’s been a tough stretch for the Packers but they have a chance to utilize all their offensive weapons against Mike Smith‘s inconsistent defense, especially on the road.
