Peyton Barber

Barber should get a lot of work this week as Doug Martin is in the concussion protocol still and is very doubtful for this weeks contest.  While only in his second season in the NFL he has shown a hard-nosed running style and last season he averaged 4.1 yards-per-carry.  This is just a small sample size of what Barber could do given a chance.

Last week vs. the Falcons he was two carries shy of his career high of twelve.  This season he might break that career mark as the Buccaneers are apparently evaluating their young talent at this point in the season.

They know what they have in Charles Sims and Jacquizz Rodgers.  Peyton is still a relative unknown.  Giving him the ability to showcase his talent against the Packers in a cold weather game that the Buccaneers don’t want to throw the ball 50 times as Winston might still not be 100% makes sense at this point in the season.

It’s a meaningless stat, but in the two games that Barber reached twelve carries, the Buccaneers are 2-0.  These games were lopsided so you can’t put much stock in this anomaly, but if he could get the carries this week, he could make for some interesting conversation heading forward into the off-season.
