Happy New Year Buccaneers fans. With the season coming to a close and a new year upon us once again I have a new year resolution for one Buccaneers player.

I would like to have Jameis Winston learn how to hold on to the football.

While he has been much better since returning from injury he has one big problem. In twelve games this season he has FIFTEEN fumbles, losing seven.

He is not at fault for bad snaps and poor blocks from the offensive line, but fifteen fumbles are tied for second most in NFL history for twelve games.

This year he had a new center, Ali Marpet, who had a few bad snaps early but got better as the year progressed. Then he got hurt, which doesn’t help any development.

Being sacked 31 times does not help his fumbling issues as well. For his career, he has been sacked 93 times in 44 career games, which is Top-10 in the NFL since 2015.

"Check out the latest episode of the PewterCast!"

While he is tenth in times sacked he has the most fumbles with 31. For a guy with a gunslinger mentality who is known for throwing interceptions, he can’t be losing the ball that much as well.

There should be major changes this off-season and with them might be an improved offensive line.

Winston needs time to pass the ball so with an improved offensive line he shouldn’t have as many fumbles but it will be on him because sacks are inevitable. If he can overcome his turnover problems he can leap into the upper echelon of quarterbacks in the NFL.
