Tampa Bay Buccaneers Progressive Mock Draft: First Overall Selection
Not surprisingly, some of you – a lot of you – didn’t like the first complete first-round mock draft on The Pewter Plank where Derwin James joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at pick seven. Of course, this selection was set in motion due to the picks before it.
I knew going into it my pick for the Cleveland Browns wouldn’t be a popular one, and that it would significantly impact who the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had available to them when the time came to make their pick.
Still, I stuck to my guns and took who I feel the Browns should take. Not who they necessarily will, or who the experts think they will.
It’s not easy having an unpopular opinion. Well, it actually is.
Thinking about how we should follow up the first mock draft of the season we’ve come up with what we think should be a fairly entertaining exercise.
Beginning today, James Yarcho and I are going to use our podcast platform “Locked on Bucs” to conduct a progressive mock draft with people who write about, study, and most of whom even claim to be fans themselves of the very franchises picking ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Of course, we’ll go in order, so there will be no surprises there. However, who each person picks for the team they feel so well acquainted with might.
At the end, James and I will then do our best Jason Licht impression and make the seventh selection. We’re working to bring in a third person whom most feel has a pretty good grip on what’s going on inside One Buc Place.
We’re even hoping to get some draft experts on to critique the entirety of the proceedings and fill us in on where they think picks may or may not have gone astray.
Let’s get it started the old-fashioned way!
The Cleveland Browns are officially on the (mock) clock!
What do you think of the selection made by Jeff Lloyd at the top of the draft? If you liked what you heard from him, don’t be afraid to check out the Locked on Browns podcast hosted by Jeff himself!
