Tampa Bay Buccaneers select M.J. Stewart in 2018 NFL Draft
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicked off their day two with another surprising pick when they took running back Ronald Jones from USC.
It wasn’t necessarily a surprise because of Ronald Jones, rather that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers passed on LSU running back Derrius Guice.
So, what did everyone expect the Bucs and Jason Licht to do? In a word…no clue.
At this point in the NFL Draft, it’s basically just hold on and enjoy the ride as we all wait to see which rookie joins the 2018 roster.
As we arrived to the 53rd there were just too many defensive backs available for the pick not to address the secondary.
And with the 53rd pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected North Carolina cornerback M.J. Stewart.
Fans of the team were clamoring for either Isaiah Oliver or my personal favorite, Donte Jackson.
In the end, as has been the norm, it’s not what the fans want, but what Jason Licht and his scouts see as the player which best adds talent to the current roster.
With safety still a need and even more depth at cornerback being a possibility, there are still plenty of options available for Tampa to add before the second round is done.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have one more pick currently in round two, so there’s more to come.
