The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went back to the offense with their fifth round pick, taking Penn wide receiver Justin Watson. Here, we have three things you need to know about this year’s 144th overall pick.

After adding some big-time weapons to Jameis Winston‘s arsenal last offseason, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers focused more on the trenches and secondary this offseason. However, they did bring in a new wide receiver for Winston, taking Penn product Justin Watson in the fifth round. He wowed scouts at his Pro Day back in March and clearly grabbed the attention of Buccaneer general manager Jason Licht.

Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, Chris Godwin and Adam Humphries occupy the team’s first four wide receiver spots. However, Watson should get a shot at the fifth spot. He will have to beat out Freddie Martino and Jesus “Bobo” Wilson to do so. He has the ability to do so, and is already being branded as a “diamond in the rough” for Tampa Bay. How he fits in will be interesting to watch over the next several months leading up to the 2018 season.

Considering he comes out of the University of Pennsylvania, Watson is not known by many. That can change, starting here with three things you need to know about the new Buccaneer receiver.
