Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Vincent Jackson retired per agent
Prior to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2012 season they brought in free-agent receiver Vincent Jackson from the San Diego Chargers. Now, the former Buc is “very happily retired” according to his agent.
As many careers tend to, Jackson’s time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fizzled out rather than going out with a bang.
Following three 1,000-yard seasons with the Chargers in his last four years in California, Jackson joined Tampa and ripped off three-straight such seasons.
In each of his first three years with the Bucs Jackson also brought in 70+ catches in each, which all eclipsed his career high numbers in San Diego.
2015 signaled the beginning of his final decline however, and Jackson finished his last two years of play with fifteen appearances bringing in less than 50 catches in 2015 and 2016 combined.
More than just a player, Jackson has also made his mark on society and the league with his interests off the playing field.
For four straight years Jackson was nominated for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
Through his Jackson in Action 83 Foundation, he’s been able to reach many more people than just those who enjoyed watching him suit up on Sunday’s for 12 seasons.
Perhaps one of his more unique achievements has been the creation of his book series which he created with his wife Lindsey.
Jackson grew up in a military family and wanted to provide a vehicle to reach out to children experiencing similar lifestyles. By creating the “Danny Dogtags” book series, he’s done just that.
The star receiver enjoyed a career which spanned more than a decade and ends with over 9,000 receiving yards and 57 touchdowns.
All Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans are fortunate to have had the opportunity to watch Jackson play for their team, and we here at the Pewter Plank wish he and his family nothing but the best as they move fully into the next chapter of their lives.
